In its first few weeks of being open, 160,000+ visitors went to the top of the One World Trade Center to experience the One World Observatory. Incredibly the observatory can handle as many as 1,000 visitors per hour. The ultra fast “pod” elevators whisk visitors to the top in under one minute – not a scary ride, it is pretty smooth with little sensation of movement.
In addition to being a state of the art building and the tallest in the Western Hemisphere, it has several video presentations like the hall of “Voices” and an electronic concierge. When you arrive at the 102 floor, you will walk down a hallway where there are video interviews of the people who helped build the new One World Trade Center. Don’t be in such a hurry to wiz by; take the time to hear some of them.
There is a café, a bar and a full service sit down restaurant on the 101th floor. The restaurant does take reservations up to 30 days in advance for a maximum of 8 people. It is recommended to buy Observatory tickets first then make your reservation. Imagine a sunset dinner and the amazing view from the table.
The ticket price is similar to other pricy attractions in NYC, but it is inspirational and amazing. On a clear day it is said the view is 50 miles in all directions. “See Forever” is a term appropriately used.
It is recommended to buy tickets online. Tickets are timed so there should be very little waiting.
