Time Square in New York City has often been referred to as the “Crossroads of the World.” It certainly is a busy place. People come and go with a flourish. Did you know there is a Ferris Wheel there? If you don’t peek in the windows you will not find it. It is inside the Toy R Us store. Imagine that.
Time Square is one of those places you could sit and watch the world go by you. Pull up a chair at Broadway Plaza and watch the motion of billboards and people as they are constantly changing. Then if you want to be entertained in an organized way (smile) Broadway shows are only a block away.
Time Square is famous for its yearly New Years celebration. Have you watched the ball fall New Year’s Eve to bring in the New Year? Fun to say I was there.
There are many, many other events held in Times Square. One that is a little unusual is the “Time Square Kiss-In.” It is scheduled once ever five years to honor the end of World War II and the “Victory Kiss.” The next one will be held August 14, 2015. Maybe something to plan for? This famous victory kiss occurred on August 14, 1945, at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue between 43rd and 44th Streets.
